Smoke odour treatment
Smoke odour persists because odour compounds ride smoke into wall cavities, ceiling insulation, duct runs and soft furnishings, then release slowly for years if left alone. Genuine treatment removes or seals the affected material and then treats the air volume, masking sprays merely postpone the problem until the next humid day.

Timing
When it's needed
If the smell returns on warm or humid days after a clean, source material remains somewhere air moves. Odour work belongs after residue cleaning and before reinstatement, sealing a smell behind new plasterboard converts a fixable problem into a permanent one.
Do not re-enter a fire-damaged building until emergency services have released it and power and gas are confirmed isolated. Soot is a lung irritant, charred structures fail without warning, and disturbed asbestos is invisible: when in doubt, stay out.
